The 17th International Sugar and Ethanol Conference, to be held on November 6 and 7, is one of the major events in the global sugar and ethanol schedule. The focus will remain on rendering value to market content, spreading knowledge of new technologies and public policies, as well as encouraging the networking between participants.

In the previous edition, the event was attended by more than 750 people from 30 countries, as well as 60 speakers who discussed for more than 15 hours manners of overcoming the challenges and leveraging the opportunities offered by Brazilian and international market.

Elizabeth Farina President ,UNICA, São Paulo, Brazil.

Elizabeth M.M.Q. Farina is the President and CEO of UNICA, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association, since December 2012. Prior to her current position she was full professor of Economics at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She chaired the Department of Economics from 2002 to 2004 and from 2010 to 2012. She was the president of the Brazilian Competition Council (Cade) from 2004 to 2008. For more than 10 years Dr. Farina was the vice chair of the agribusiness program at the University of Sao Paulo, PENSA. She earned a PhD in economics from the University of Sao Paulo in 1983 and the habilitation title since 1996. She reached the fullprofessorship in 2001. Dr. Farina worked as a consultant in Brazil and other Latin America countries and as economic expert in food and agribusiness strategies and antitrust litigation and mergers and acquisition analysis. Farina published eight books, 14 book chapters, and more than 20 papers in national and international journals.

He has been engaged in several Sugar and Ethanol Market Advisory Projects at DATAGRO. Mário Ferreira Campos Filho is economist with MBA in Finances of IBMEC. Employee of the entity since 2003, where he became a profound expert of the industry with effective advice in several matters of interest as monitoring of production, logistics, tax, environmental and press relations. Plinio Mario Nastari President, DATAGRO, São Paulo, Brazil.

President and CEO of Datagro Consulting Ltd., one of the world’s leading consulting company specialized in agricultural markets, serving clients in 41 countries. Dr. Nastari holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Economics, from Iowa State University. Was Professor of Economics at FGV – The Getúlio Vargas Foundation, in São Paulo, in undergraduate and graduate level courses (MBA, Masters and Doctoral programs) from 1984 to 2000. Former Executive Director and President of the Board of the Brazilian Association of Automotive Engineers (AEA), he helped the design of the ethanol specifications which enabled the use of ethanol in fuel injected engines. He has served as member of the Technical Committees of Brazil’s Interministerial Council on Sugar and Alcohol, National Energy Commission, and Commission for Reexam of the Energy Matrix. He has assisted the Brazilian government in Energy Planning (1984-86 and 1991-93), industry deregulation (1997-1999), trade negotiations (1991-2004), and trade disputes. With extensive experience in trade negotiations and trade disputes at the International Trade Commission and the World Trade Organization, Dr. Nastari has acted before the Brazilian Government as Chief Economist in the trade disputes involving ethanol exports to the United States (US ITC), and subsidized sugar exports from the European Union, European Union bananas import regime, and Brazilian regime for the import of used and retreaded tires (WTO). He is Arbitrator of the Camara FGV de Arbitragem (Arbitration Chamber of the Getulio Vargas Foundation), and has acted as Expert Testimony in many cases, at this chamber and at ICC, the International Chamber of Commerce, in Paris. Lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)- Second Assessment Report (2AR), and Consultant for Biomass Energy other than Wood, to the World Energy Council. Co-founder and Member of the Sustainable Biofuels Consensus (Bellagio Consensus), Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, Bellagio, Italy, 2008, and Participant of the Bled Strategic Forum, since 2008 in Bled, Slovenia. Dr. Nastari is Member of the World Sugar Committee, at ICE Futures (Intercontinental Exchange) in New York, where recommendations are made for improvements in contract rules and other matters related to the world trade of sugar. Member of PAPSAC, the Private and Public, Scientific, Academic and Consumer Food Policy Group, at Harvard University, in Boston. He leads a team of 97 collaborators at Datagro, housed in six offices (Alphaville, Sao Paulo/Capital, Ribeirao Preto, Santos, Recife and New York), assisting a host of companies in market analysis, investments in production and logistics assets related to sugar, ethanol and other agroindustrial activities, in countries in the Amercias, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Throughout the years, Dr. Nastari established a fruitful cooperation between Datagro and the International Sugar Organization (ISO), jointly organizing the prestigious Sugar & Ethanol Conference that precedes the Person of the Year Award (BrazilCham) and the New York Sugar Dinner for the last ten years. He was Chairman of the 19th ISO Annual Seminar in London. He was the Keynote Speaker at the 2013 New York Sugar Dinner. Organizer of the Sugar & Ethanol Summit – Brazil Day, for five consecutive years in London, in cooperation with Brazil’s Ministry of External Relations. Organizer for sixteen consecutive years of the traditional Datagro International Conference in São Paulo that precedes the São Paulo Sugar Dinner, and the Datagro Ceise Br Fenasucro Conference in Sertãozinho, SP, the largest equipment fair for sugar & ethanol in the world. Organizer of the Global Agribusiness Forum, in partnership with the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), ABRAMILHO (corn producers) and ABCZ (cattle producers) a biannual venue. Dr. Nastari is a frequent speaker at energy, biofuels and agribusiness conferences around the globe, with frequent attendance in London, Paris, Washington, Orlando, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Amsterdam and Dubai. Married to Rute, the couple has three children, Francisco (31), Louise (29) and Luiz Felipe (28), and three grandchildren, Carolina (2), José (1) and Anna Sophie (1).

Mr. Renato Pontes Cunha President, SINDAÇUCAR-PE, Pernambuco, Brazil.

Renato Augusto Pontes Cunha, was born in Recife, Pernambuco, on March 10, 1958, father of two daughters, graduated in Law by UFPE, in 1981, and post-graduated in Financial Administration by FESP – University of the State of Pernambuco. He also has MBA degree in Marketing by FGV/UNICAP. He performed executive positions in sugar and alcohol companies of the region, as Antonio Farias Group and Armando Monteiro Group. For two (2) years, from 1985 to 1987, he worked as Manager of Lloyds Bank PLC – Recife, having implemented the agribusiness department in the institution in Pernambuco, after three months training in the Bank’s general management in São Paulo. In 1999, he was appointed for the position of Director of the Union of Sugar and Alcohol Industries of the State of Pernambuco - SINDAÇÚCAR, and on June 12, 2000, he undertook the position of President of the entity. He took part in several travels abroad for studies and businesses, as for instance: Portugal, England, Germany and France, in Europe, as well as, Venezuela, Mexico and USA, in Americas. In the USA, upon invitation of the American Government, he took part for two weeks in 2005 of training in the scope of the Cochran Program of FAS-USDA. In the years 2003, 2004 and 2005, he received from Procana Group / JornalCana (sugarcane newspaper) the title of “Leader of the Year Master Cana”, result of survey in mills and distilleries of the Northeast region. He is effective member of the Sectorial Chamber of Sugar and Alcohol of the Federal Government and representative of SINDAÇÚCAR with the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco – FIEPE.

In case of registrations made through credit cards from outside Brazil, the value in Brazilian Reals will be debited and converted into each local currency according to the rules of each credit card.

Group registrations
If a company has registered more than one delegate, we offer 5% extra discount for the second registration and the following until november 06, 2017. After this date, all registrations will be charged the full amount (4,730.00 BRL).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellation and refund requests received until October 26, 2017 will be accepted with retention of an administration fee of 70% of the amount paid. After this date, retention will rise to 90% to cover committed costs. No refunds will be made for cancellation requests received after October 31, 2017. Substitution of delegates is welcome and can be made until the November 01, 2017
